Stocktake Saturday 33

Welcome to Stocktake Saturday! This feature is where I share some news with you and then show you all the bookish goodies I got over the week.

This week’s cover reveals (links to Goodreads pages):

Universal Pictures has announced that the film adaptation of Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone will the produced by Joe Roth, the producer of Snow White And The Huntsman. It’s a small step forward, but with no screenplay writer announced yet, there is a long time to go before we see Karou and Akiva on the big screen.

In more movie news, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, has a movie script! It was written by Dan Waters (brother of Mark Waters, who directed Mean Girls) and producer Dan Murphy says that the script is “Smart and funny, clever and really a great read – it is going to make a terrific film.” Personally I think VA would work better as a TV series, but I’m happy that it is closer to being adapted for the screen.

And still more movie news, a quick recap on the Divergent adaptation by Summit: there is a script written by Evan Daugherty (of Snow White and the Huntsman fame) and a release date of March 21 2014 has been announced. Shailene Woodley (The Secret Life of an American Teenager) will play Tris and the studio is now casting Tobias.

This is going to be the last Stocktake Saturday for the year, I’ll be back blogging on January 7th :D Book bloggers need holidays too! For the last Waiting On … Wednesday of 2012 I have chosen the Unfettered Fantasy anthology by Shawn Speakman (ed.) and I also posted up the 2013 books I am eagerly anticipating.

I received the following books for review this week: (links to Goodreads pages)

Last time I was 7 books ahead in my Read Three, Buy One scheme, with two unlocked purchases. I have reviewed the following over this week:

  1. Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
  2. Two and Twenty Dark Tales by Georgia McBride and Michelle Zink
  3. Beastly by Alex Flinn
